About 13 years ago, I published my first piece of short fiction in the ezine Mysterical-e. It is a great ezine still publishing regularly to this day.
My story was called Information and like many writers, it holds a special place in my heart, but, whew! It is not the best piece of writing you’ll run across.
However, it was an important story to me. It started with an idea – Can you do a bad thing for a good reason? Can you engage in an evil action for a noble cause? It is an idea – that gray area – that I still study in my writing today.
I’m not sure the answer. And when I look, the piece isn’t the best in the world. However, after 20 years of regularly publishing non-fiction it was exciting to finally land on the fiction charts, as it were.
